Recruited to be employed as community data scientists, youth were trained to apply scientific methods and mobile technology to capture data about all the public-facing businesses and organizations serving their communities. During this program, youth were challenged to demonstrate personal integrity and apply their best critical thinking skills to the scientific, health, and civic engagement components of the MAPCorps experience.At MAPSCorps, Youth Researchers work with community-based organizations to collect valuable information (data) about the businesses and organizations in Chicago's communities. Once that data is collected, Youth Researchers work as a team to research their community and use the data to make recommendations for how to improve the health and well-being of the community's residents. At the end of the summer, Youth Researchers present their research and recommendations to researchers, policy-makers, elected officials, and other professionals at the August Scientific Symposium.

Corazón's Department of Health Services specializes in delivering sexual health care services in a non-judgmental, sex-positive, and LBGTQ+ affirming setting. They offer confidential testing and counseling for HIV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia Monday through Friday (walk-ins always available) and supply free condoms and safer sex kits. They also provide referrals for other client needs, such as mental health, domestic violence, and much more. In support of the community's youth, they partner with Morton East High School in Cicero and Heritage Middle School in Berwyn to offer classes on sexual health and teen pregnancy prevention.

The Love Fridges provides free food to anyone on a take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can basis, while supplies are available. Fridges can be accessed 24/7 and are location in neighborhoods throughout the City of Chicago.Fridge Etiquette:Please wear a mask and ensure that your hands are clean if you intend on accessing the fridge.Avoid unnecessary contact with food items to prevent contamination.If you notice food has gone bad or packaging has been compromised, please throw it away.Check use-by dates on food products. Discard out-of-date food and do not consume prepared food after seven days.Please put new donations towards the back of the shelves so that food gets eaten in the order it is donated.Please do not donate anything that you would not personally consume.If you noticed or cause a spill, please clean up after yourself whenever possible.
