The City of Chicago Department of Water Management is running three voluntary replacement programs: the Equity Lead Service Line Replacement Program, the Homeowner-Initiated Program, and the Daycare Program. These programs allow residents to replace their lines on their own timeline.There are also two required programs for lead service line replacement. Under the Breaks and Leaks Program, whenever a resident's line has a break or leak, the Department of Water Management replaces it for free.
