Early childhood parenting program provided in the home, using Parents as Teachers curriculum. The program works with families one-on-one that have children aged prenatal through age 5, or kindergarten entry.

Beyond the personalized visits with the family, the program also puts on family get together events where the families can socialize with the other families. An example of these events include pumpkin patch day, tie-die a shirt event, visit the zoo day, and make a craft together day.

Another benefit to enrolled families is that they earn Kid’s Korner points that can be used to ‘purchase’ items from our Kid’s Korner store (i.e. diapers, wipes, cabinet locks, car seats, etc.). There are various ways for the families to earn these points, such as personalized visits with our Program Educators and attending family get together events, prenatal medical checkups, and child medical checkups.

Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)/Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (Hawki) CHIP covers children under the age of 19 in working families who have too much income to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance, and are not enrolled in other health insurance.

In Iowa, CHIP is offered through Hawki. Some households may be required to pay a monthly premium based on family income. No family pays more than $40 a month. Some families pay nothing at all. Eligibility ends on the first day of the month following the month of the youth’s 19th birthday.

The shelter provides a safe place to sleep, evening meal, laundry, and shower facilities. The length of stay is 30 days. Transitional Shelter Services for Women with Children - Provides immediate relief to women, 18 and over, with children (male children must be 12 years of age or younger). In addition, provides life's basic needs - food, clothing, personal care items, laundry facilities, transportation, and telephones to make appointments. Supportive services provided include life skill classes, employment assistance, budgeting, family literacy, parenting classes, tutoring, and case management with a goal of finding and maintaining permanent housing.
